Mississippi Book Festival planned to go on in 2021

After having to go virtual in 2020 due to COVID-19, the Mississippi Book Festival Board of Directors has unanimously voted to go on with a live, in-person book festival on August 21, 2021.

Remaining mindful that we are still in the midst of a pandemic, the board released the following statement:

“Mindful of pandemic developments going forward, we’re planning a stellar, yet smaller event focused at the State Capitol. We love packing crowds into architecturally beautiful spaces but the new normal may have everyone spread out a bit more. As the year unfolds and plans evolve, we may be able to grow the festival to include the spaces across the street, so graciously offered by our partner Galloway United Methodist Church. Of course, the lawn of the Capitol and surrounding streets will once again welcome exhibitors and friends to celebrate great books and those who create them.”

Say the sixth annual Mississippi Book Festival does go as planned, hundreds of contemporary authors—from the national to the local level—will connect directly with readers of all levels through different official panels.

In 2019, the festival boasted an attendance of 9,300 with 47 panel discussions and activities at 10 different venues. To learn more about the Mississippi Book Festival, click here.
