The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting the state’s highest one-day rise in new COVID-19 cases since August 19th.
1,322 new cases bring the state’s total up to 108,139. With the confirmation of *12 additional deaths, 3,152 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
*MSDH Note: 1 COVID-19 related death occurred on August 23, identified from a death certificate report.
Hospitalizations did see a slight decline in the latest data (Wednesday’s report) from the MSDH.
State health officials continue to stress the importance of wearning a mask despite the absence of a statewide mask mandate.
“It’s such an easy thing, and it adds benefit to our safety. It allows us to keep schools open, allows us to keep hospitals from overflowing and it allows us to visit people in nursing homes,” State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs recently said.
As of Monday, an estimated 94, 165 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
