Yesterday, Mississippi was hit hard by severe weather with tornados scattered across the state.

Following the severe storms across Mississippi on Monday, Governor Phil Bryant has declared a state of emergency for all counties as damage assessments continue.

During a press conference at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency headquarters, a MEMA representative stated that the National Weather Service has identified 14 tornados that touched down and that the number may rise as assessments continue.

No deaths were reported in Mississippi, but there have been 15 injuries. Preliminary damage reports show that over 150 homes have been either damaged or destroyed.

Throughout the day, there were over 11,000 power outages across the state.

MEMA stated that it could take around 2 to 3 weeks to finish assessing all of the damage.
