MS judge suspended after complaint that he slapped clerk

A south Mississippi judge has been suspended after complaints that he pushed and slapped a court clerk.

According to complaints filed with Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance, Jefferson County Justice Court Judge Wendell Williams pushed a court clerk and slapped her hand.

The complaint also states that Williams acted “impatient, rude, and threatening” toward court staff and others within the courtroom.

The judge has been suspended without pay by the Mississippi Supreme Court until the commission can resolve the formal process of handling the complaints against him.
