MSDH confirms 1,168 new cases with 52 deaths

The uptick in COVID-19 cases continues to happen across the state of Mississippi as the State Department of Health (MSDH) has now reported an additional 1,168 positive cases.

MSDH also confirmed 52 new deaths, which brings the total of coronavirus-induced deaths to 1,663. The total number of cases that the Magnolia State has seen since the beginning of March is now up to 58,747.

Unfortunately, the hospitalization numbers also continue to rise as 982 Mississippians are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. For context’s sake, the state of Mississippi had just 703 people in the hospital for coronavirus-related reasons on July 10. That is way too large of an increase for a state that is still struggling to open up ICU beds.

Since no vaccine has completely made it through the testing protocols required by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it is up to you to do your part, wear your mask, and wash your hands—not only for your own personal wellbeing but for the health of all people you may come in contact with.
