The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 511 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 78,405. With the confirmation of 8 additional deaths, 2,248 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
The latest hospital data published by the MSDH (Saturday’s report) shows a continued decline in overall hospitalizations.
State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs posted similarly encouraging news on Twitter on Sunday, but he warned that hospitalizations could rise in the coming weeks.
We are very pleased to see a decline in daily COVID hospitalizations.
Recommend to physician colleagues – please consider doing elective surgeries that require hospitalization soon. Anticipate rebound COVID hospitalizations in 3-4 weeks secondary to outbreaks in youth now. pic.twitter.com/EIacZobrpq
