The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 795 new cases of COVID-19.
Today’s report brings the state’s total up to 113,876. With the confirmation of 7 additional deaths, 3,238 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
Overall hospitalizations continue to hover around 600 in the latest data from the MSDH.
Thursday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs stated that Mississippi is entering a new phase of the pandemic.
“Without a doubt, we’re going into a fall surge. It’s undeniable. All the indicators are moving in the wrong direction. We’re seeing more cases. Our deaths are starting to creep up…and our hospitalizations are increasing pretty rapidly,” Dobbs said.
As of Monday, an estimated 97,675 have recovered from COVID-19.
