The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,227 new cases of COVID-19.�
Today�s report�which follows higher weekend totals (3,203 cases on Saturday and 2,214 on Sunday�brings the state�s total up to 240,309. With the confirmation of 19 additional deaths, 5,186 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.�

Last week, COVID-19 vaccination appointments were opened up to those 75 and older in Mississippi at the MSDH�s 18 drive-thru vaccination sites and a list of private clinics. In an effort to increase the rollout of the vaccine, the number of sites is expected to increase in the coming days.�
With the winter weather that arrived Sunday night, the following sites have delayed operations until 11 a.m. – Desoto, Lafayette, Lauderdale, Lee, Neshoba, and Rankin. The clinic in Leflore is canceled. Make-up clinics will be conducted on Saturday in these locations.
According to State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs, a �significant� number of vaccine appointments remain open this week in Forrest, Jones, Jackson, Lafayette, Lauderdale, Lowndes, Neshoba, Pike, Washington.�
