Intermittent fasting might be your answer. This method has been proven to show that it can knock off weight, but experts believe it can benefit your body in more ‘weighs’ than that.
In a recent study from the New England Journal of Medicine, experts say that intermittent fasting can help reduce blood pressure and improve longevity.
The authors of this report made focus on two types of fasting:
- Time-restricted eating – where the dieter eats for six to eight hours a day, then fasts 16 to 18 hours
- The 5:2 diet – where calories are limited to 500 for two days a week, the other five are normal eating days
Those are the types where they have seen the most results but since the research is still fairly new, and the long-term effects require more research. It is suggested that anyone who is wanting to start this dieting method to consult a doctor and take the steps slowly at first.
As always, it is recommended to maintain a healthy weight and moderate exercise as a routine.
