NYE Reminder: Current executive order shuts down alcohol sales at 11

As Mississippians get ready to celebrate the welcomed end of 2020, officials continue to urge small gatherings with COVID cases continuing to soar. For those that are planning on going out on New Year’s Eve, there are a few aspects of the current executive order in place that you need to be aware of.

In addition to the mask mandate that remains in effect in 78 of the state’s 82 counties, statewide measures placed on bars and restaurants continue to limit capacity, party size, and alcohol sales.

If you’re out at a bar or restaurant and want to ring in the new year with a glass of champagne or any other alcoholic beverage, you’ll have to order it before 11:00 p.m as sales will cease at that point—just as they will on every other night while the order remains in place. Additionally, the order states that alcohol can only be served to customers who are seated.

Along with a 75% capacity restriction, party sizes remain limited to 10 per table and tables must be spaced out to ensure social distancing. Servers and other personnel are required to wear PPE.
