Senate Recap: New Bills Introduced, One Passed

The Senate gaveled in today and has already passed HB 1 to go to the Governor to be signed.

HB 1 is the teacher deficit bill. Senator Hopson moved to bring this to attention in the Senate and have it passed.

This bill will handle teacher pay raises for the 2020 fiscal year after some teachers last year were coded wrong and did not receive the raise.

24 new bills were also introduced into the Senate today. The next step is the bills sent to the appropriate committee to be passed or not.

Some of the bills that were introduced are:

SB 2068: “To Delete the authority of public governing entities to move historical monuments and memorials.”

SB 2048: ” To provide that certified registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) with two years of practice in good standing shall not be required to have a  written collaborative agreement with a physician or be required to submit patient charts to a physician for review.

SB 2061: ” To provide a probable cause hearing upon a criminal affidavit before issuance of any arrest warrant at the discretion of the court.”

SB 2066: “To authorize Mississippi citizens working on the Mississippi River, offshore oil rigs and other navigable federal waters to vote using the provisions of the armed services absentee voting law.”

The Senate is adjourned until 4 pm on Monday, January 20th, 2020.
