Governor Tate Reeves has signed House Bill 1 into law to fully fund the 2019 teacher pay raises.
Teachers across the state received a $1,500 pay raise last year, but a coding error by the Mississippi Department of Education mistakenly omitted some teachers. Lawmakers were left with the job of covering an over 18-million dollar deficit.
This is the first official piece of legislation signed by Governor Reeves who is in his first week in office.
