With college basketball season fast approaching, a Rebel and a Bulldog have each earned preseason SEC honors.
As voted on by league and national media members, Ole Miss PG Breein Tyree and Mississippi State F Reggie Perry were named to the preseason All-SEC First-Team.
Heading into the 2019-20 campaign, Tyree is the SEC’s leading returning scorer after putting up 17.9 ppg last season. Last season, Tyree was the only player in the SEC to rank in the conference’s top 10 in scoring (3rd-17.9 ppg), free throw percentage (3rd-83.1), three-pointers made (7th-2.1 per game) and field goal percentage (10th-45.9).
Perry returns to Mississippi State after a standout freshman season. During SEC play, Perry averaged over 11 points and 8 rebounds per game. By the end of the season, he put up 9 double-doubles on his way to being named to the All-SEC Freshman Team.
Both Tyree and Perry tested the waters of the NBA draft before deciding to return for their senior and sophomore seasons, respectively.
Kentucky is the favorite to win the SEC with Mississippi State projected to finish 7th and Ole Miss is one spot behind them at 8.
