Unrest in the Middle East

Iran has launched missiles at the Ain al-Asad air base in Iraq that was housing members of the United States military.

President Donald Trump issued a statement Tuesday night saying, “All is well! Missiles launched from Iran at two military bases located in Iraq. Assessment of casualties & damages taking place now. So far, so good! We have the most powerful and well equipped military anywhere in the world, by far!”

Some of Mississippi’s delegation have also released statements concerning the attack.  We will update as more become available.

Congressman Steven Palazzo:

“I am closely monitoring the situation developing in Iraq. While reports at this point are saying there are no casualties, I am continuing to pray for the safety of our troops fighting overseas.

As our defense secretary stated, America does not seek war but we are prepared to finish one. Our armed forces are the best trained in the world and we must remain united behind them. My full support is with the men and women who are on the front lines.”

Senator Roger Wicker:

“I am monitoring the situation in Iraq closely tonight. Please join me in praying for our service members.”
