Southern Miss’ schedule has been reduced to 11 games following the cancelation of their matchup with Tennessee Tech.
The matchup becomes a casualty of the Ohio Valley Conference’s decision to cancel all of its fall sports. The Golden Eagles were supposed to host TTU on September 19th.
In a statement, USM Athletic Director Jeremy McClain said that they will seek out a 12th opponent for the upcoming season.
“We have learned today with the OVC cancellation of fall sports that Tennessee Tech will not be able to play this fall,” McClain said. “Our focus now turns into exploration of potential opportunities for us to play a 12th game this fall for our football program.”
The Golden Eagles are set to kick off the 2020 season at home against South Alabama on September 3rd.
